Subject-Specific Rankings
While the global leaderboard shows overall XP, subject leaderboards let you compete specifically in Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, Science, Social Studies, and other CBC subjects.

How Subject Rankings Work

Subject leaderboards are based on quiz points, not just XP. Your quiz points in a subject are the sum of (score / total * 100) across all quiz attempts in that subject. This means:
  • High scores matter more than number of attempts

  • Accuracy is rewarded over volume

  • A student with 5 perfect quizzes may rank higher than one with 20 average quizzes
  • How to Top Your Subject Leaderboard

  • Focus on accuracy — Since quiz points are based on score percentages, getting high scores is more important than taking many quizzes.
  • Study the curriculum first — Use the CBC curriculum browser to learn the material before taking quizzes.
  • Review wrong answers — Use the quiz review feature to understand why answers were wrong and avoid repeating mistakes.
  • Practice consistently — Take quizzes regularly in your target subject to accumulate quiz points.
  • Which Subjects Have Leaderboards?

Any subject with active quiz data in the last 30 days has a leaderboard. If a subject does not appear, it means no one has taken a quiz in that subject recently.

Gamification and Academic Motivation in Kenyan Schools

Integrating friendly academic competition into daily study routines significantly increases student engagement and subject retention. Gamified subject leaderboards encourage learners across Kenyan schools to attempt practice quizzes consistently, reward accuracy over guesswork, and transform routine revision into an inspiring learning journey across primary and secondary CBC strands.

Tracking Subject Growth Across CBC Strands

On Nehiju Learn, subject leaderboards allow PP1 to Grade 12 learners to measure their proficiency against peers in key subjects like Mathematics, English, and Integrated Science. Earning quiz points and tracking rankings complements study tools such as flashcards, mind maps, notes, and the study planner. Combined with guidance from the Mwalimu AI tutor, students can test their knowledge during the 100 KSH 30-day CBC trial.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my subject not appear on the leaderboard?

Subjects only appear if there has been quiz activity in that subject in the last 30 days. Take a quiz in your subject to activate it.

Can I see my rank without being in the top 20?

Yes. Your rank and stats appear below the leaderboard table, showing your position and how many points you need to move up.

Do quiz points carry over between weeks?

Subject leaderboard quiz points are cumulative for the selected period. Weekly view resets each Monday, monthly view resets on the 1st.
